Yes it can, but I have found a few clocks that had the bent minute had arbor, I straighten it and mess the clock up and had to re-bend it to get the clock running again.

@@kovec69 I do believe the gear is wedged on there like the hour hand of the clock. You can try two screw drivers on either side and pry up evenly as you can. Also try some oil on the shaft before you start.

I would like to know more of the history of this clock. Where can I find that information? Quick google search said it had to do with a date and knowing what time that they had to bring their daughter home which doesnt sound right.

@@munnerlyn3 I found several references from turning off all light sources, to time to go home. Many were for how we lived back then. Remember the gas light was king and DC power was the light bulb power. if you even had power. Automobiles were just getting started as a way to get about. But horses provided 80% of human travel, Followed by Trains then ocean liners. I searched 1909 history.

Your clock could be in need of oiling. The book says to oil your clock every 5 to 7 years to blow out the dust, and freshen up the old oil so it doesn't start to gum up and stop the clock. If you take the movement out to oil it, check the spring tension for the bird to see if you need to take another wrap around the bar of the bird so he will come back inside the house.

Where I live, there isn't really a frost line to worry about. Michigan freezes DEEP. and you have to get below the frost line to your pole does not heave out of the ground as the ground starts to thaw out.
